INITIATIVE FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Our Programs
We work on projects involving education, food security & livelihoods and gender-based violence.

EDUCATION
For displaced children, even the most basic educational resources such as books, notebooks, and uniforms—are often out of reach. We aim to remove these barriers through:
-
School Supplies Kits: Each child receives a customized kit filled with essential learning materials, including textbooks, notebooks, pencils, and art supplies. These kits are designed to reduce the financial burden on families while ensuring children have the resources they need to engage in learning fully.
-
Cash-Based Assistance and Scholarships: In families where education costs such as exam fees and uniforms are prohibitive, cash-based assistance helps cover these costs, empowering parents to prioritize schooling. Additionally, scholarships are available for high-performing children and girls at risk of dropping out due to financial pressures.
FOOD SECURITY & LIVELIHOODS
Economic insecurity is one of the most pressing challenges faced by IDPs. ICD supports:
-
Agricultural initiatives by providing climate-smart farming techniques, tools, and inputs to restore food security.
-
Entrepreneurship programs, offering small business grants and coaching to help individuals build sustainable income sources.
-
Cash-based interventions, ensure IDPs have flexible support to meet their immediate needs.
GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (GBV) RESPONSE
With heightened risks of GBV in conflict settings, our programs aim to protect and empower survivors through:
-
Psychosocial support.
-
Economic empowerment activities, helping women become financially independent to reduce their vulnerability.
-
Community awareness campaigns to shift harmful norms and prevent violence against women and girls.

Bright Futures: Keeping IDP Children Learning and Thriving
Bright Futures: Keeping IDP children learning and thriving project is one of our education projects dedicated to ensuring that the most vulnerable IDP children have access to quality education. The project focuses on primary and secondary schools with high percentages of IDP children, addressing barriers like lack of school supplies and financial constraints.
